about

So this was my second album that started in 2003. I booked a session with me, Anton Fig on drums & John Regan on Bass. Felt like the Who!! I had done a summer opening for Peter Frampton and me & John had coffee or lunch almost every day on that tour and became buds so I had to get him on this album. Also another sometimes painful learning curve with ProTools,.Damn Computers! But it doesn't sound that way. It was nice not to drag a ten pound reel of tape around to every session. And my writing had improved on this album from a lot of touring & session work. I learned a lot in those years before this record. It wasn't as dark as the first one & we played it live a bunch. The reason it took so long to finish was because I was a shitty engineer and this digital recording thing was still fairly new. But once I learned a few things it was smooth sailing. So a small track by track. So "Love Each Other came real fast at the end & that was me, Joe Vitale, Kenny Aa & Tommy Mandel. At this point I knew I had a strong album coming. Change was sort of about the political climate at the time. I had to write a couple.:)I really worked out my guitar parts instead of just going for a typical solo and was better for it & I had Steve Holley sing some beautiful John-Paul style backing vocals & played percussion with Phil Cimino's great feeling drum track.
Naughty Girl was a reunion of my first solo band from the 80's with Gary Bristol on bass & Mike Holleman on drums. And I tried to channel Ronnie Wood with the slide. We love the Stones around here!! :)
Also a highlight was cutting one of my favorite songs ever "Let it Grow by Eric Clapton in my apartment with Steve Holley on a make shift percussion kit with a snare. He is brilliant like that.
And The Real Thing was me, Anton Fig & John Regan. And to me was the big one from that session. We were smiling when we cut that one. And Anton came and played it with us at the cd release gig & I think that was the last time we played together. Gotta make something happen again with him & John. Tremendous players they both are!! Good Times!
So my dear friend & incredible bass player Gary Bristol produced it with me and really helped get us to the finish line. And one more fun fact. I handed the first copy of the CD to Steven Tyler!! That was a blast & he was so cool to me. Hope you like it!
